Tomorrow 6/20 - 5 BTers  (4 tri/1 du)will be training together race style in FISHHAWK.

The course has been set and measured  750yd S / 14.5mi B / 3.1mi R
We still have one open pool lane for a tri and are willing to take a few more duathletes.

Just PM me w/ your email if interested.  Preferably (but not exclusive) to SE H'boro peeps.

TRI
SWIM - will be handicapped.  Must be able to complete the swim within 13-15 mins
The BIKE will be draft-style (noone else is familiar w the course, yet). Must be able to ride 20+ mph
The RUN will be an out and back 5K on a flat paved trail.

DU
This time will have to be 3.1mi/14.5mi/3.1mi.  That's all I've measured.
If more than one person, and any of you have a garmin, then I can suggest a few other routes at transition.

***  No aid/water stations are set, so must provide your own fluids/nutrition. ***  Must arrive prior to 7AM, we intend to start at 7:30AM sharp. ***

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:  DISCLAIMER
This event isn't sponsored by anyone, just a bunch of guys out to train and hammer it together.  Your acceptance serves as the release of any and all responsibility and liability in any form towards anyone.  You accept and participate at your own risk.

Let me know ASAP,  with only one lane open in the pool, I think this spot will go away fast.  I will email packet w/ routes and directions to the lucky lottery winner(s)

we had an awesome time - made mistakes (like getting lost) an learned from them.
the pool got unepectedlu full and we all (3) ended us sharing a lane.  Them it was a flat with some hills course and a flat run course.

Nexrt time we'll have better marksand make it official.

Guys (who participated) - wanna share your thoughts?

I like that you had three in a lane. If you are not banging with someone on the swim, it is not a triathlon. Have you seen this video on youtube about triathlon swim training? It is a Clif Bar ad but rather funny.

i loved it.  very realistic training.

Swim:  700 meter which freaked me out because i don't think i can swim too well.  Thanks to steve for carrying me the whole length.

Bike:  15 miles or so which made me realise that i have to train on hills.  I usually train at flatwoods which is just like its name... FLAT!  Course could have been marked better because Olman decided to dust us all leaving us to fend for ourselves.  Maybe some signs would help next time because once i couldn't see olman, i started to get worried.

Run:  3.1 miles with hills.  Not bad of a course but again, should've been marked becuase if i didn't see where olman turned around, i wouldn't have saw the turn around point.

All in all it was very realistic and fun.  Learned alot of things that day so i hope we can do it again real soon.  More people would be great too, Triathletes and DuAthletes.  I have some florecent spray paint and could make some signs if needed.  I'm real excited for the next one, olman, thanks for putting this together.

OMG - scare the crap out of any swimmer - but I get the point.  I bet the wives and GFs would love to "help us".
The one lane swim came out of necessity but it's a good point to "train like you race", which was the intent of the event.

Will post the next group training on this thread.  Due to work and vacation, i don't think it'll be at least 'til AUG though, but stay tuned.

I'm very glad to see everyone had fun and I do hope we can grow this into an ongoing thing.  I will make a note of the markers.  Also, the routes are on my maps - check them out, copy them and do them - parking lot is open to all.  Just the pool is resident required.  I'll be swiming and riding on SAT AM.  Need to burn all my beer carbs from this week.

I felt that it was the best training I've ever done.
Until sebring 7/26, I'm going to do a practice sprint every weekend.
I missed the turn, i don't think it needs to be marked, I just wasn't paying attention.  The extra miles were just good training.
Unmarked = benefit for the "veterans" to know where they're going, while being a challenge for any newbies.
Olman, thanks again for arranging it.

I'm at my eldest's swim meet saturday, so I can't join you.  But let's post per weekend to see about getting together.  I just measured out my club's neighborhood - three laps of 4.3 miles each for the ride just outside of the pool there, so I'm good to practice here.

Gatorade is my friend.

Good training this weekend.  That was actually the farthest i've ever ridden.  The ride helped me get more farmiliar with my bike cause i've only had her for 2 weeks.  I look forward to doing it again real soon.

Nothing works better than saddle time.  After this last ride, I have a feeling we'll see you (BOOM) at the podium very soon.  U pulled ahead in a few sprints and I tried to chase but you were untouchable at least twice.  I guess now you know the difference between a $500 and a $2500 bike - the pro fit also helps.  A solid nutrition plan will take you there.

Dude, many thx for the shorts, they fit me PERFECTLY.  Already used them on Sun AM on my intereval run, that training also came from you.  I have a few items to Pay Forward in your name.

Is anyone else signed up for Morton in CLW 7/12?  I will do nothing but swimming this week, maybe around 6PM  right here in FH but probably @ the other pool (@ N end of Churchside Dr) but am not really sure about the # of leisure swimmers i will encounter there.

Awesome, looking fwd to seeing you there.  I am dropping off the fam at TPA tomorrow so I'll stay at the bch and hangout, maybe do Bahama Breeze as a late lunch ( i like their food a lot and is on the healthier side).  I'm trying to figure out how many BTers willbe there and how they all meet ???

Just trained a full tri today by myself.  S in the AM and then a B/R brick at 6PM  I still suck on the water but can't wait to get into the crystal clear/buoyant salt water of CLW beach.  I'll do nothing but swim this week.

C ya in a week!

Good to hear from you Boom.

Man, I'm racin' all the time.

Since the practice, I did the Morton Plant Mease with Olman (who beat me due to his awesome bike leg over nearly vertical bridges), then just finished the Heartland Tri in Sebring 7/26.  (PR there - 1:24: 440y lake swim-7th in my age group, 14mi ride, 3.1 run-8:41/mi average pace)

I'm training for the Siesta Key Sprint (880y swim, 13mi bike, 3.1mi run - on hateful "packed" sand) on 10/4, but will try to race one or two between then and now.

I'm in the Keys this weekend, (which my wife won't let me race the publix key largo race), so that's out for me.  I'm open after that except Sept. 4-7.

I did the moss park tri (750/ 13/ 3.1) i few weeks ago and would've took 1st in clyde but had some technical difficulties... took 2nd in clyde so it wasn't too bad.  I'm planning on doing my first Oly in a few weeks.  I'm a little more confident in my swimming because i completed my first nonstop 2000 meter swim yesterday.  Olman...  chime in, when are you available?

here I am.  borrowed fmily's PC, someerason my laptop not logging into BT

anyhow, I am open this weekend too.  Let's "tri".

Stv: busy season for you, racing is more than practice (good deal).  BTW: I didn't beat you at Morton Plant for much.  My run still sux.  Been runing like a madman - just put in 27mi on bike this PM.  Modified route.  Focusing on OLY training but still have 2 Publix sprints to do this season.  Longleaf OLY in NPRichey soon will be my first oly if I can still register 4 it.

Boom, ur kicking butt.  Let me know about SAT/SUN AM avail.  Once we program it, I'll see if Javier is available.  He also did Morton and kicked my butt.  He raced well except for the swim.  I can't believe I passed him and many others from the previous wave.  (beats me!

Let's stay in touch!

we'll plan on starting the swim at 7AM (if that time works for u) and we guarantee at least one lane, better if we get more.  Let me know.  T setup will be 6:45 or so.

Hey, don't forget to bring the swim DVD, I really want to check it out.

Steve; I read you'll be livin' large in Key Largo, right?  Enjoy the family time.  Nothing better than that.

I'll send email (to Javier, Dan and Teresa).

transition times are included with times, I still have to learn to use this darn Garmin correctly.  URGH!!!!  Or, it may be that I am missing the LAP button for transitions.

My calculated total time was great at 1:24:50  based on Garmin graph, T1 was 0:26 as speed increases past that point.  I started lap at main road (00:01:00).
T2 was about 0:20  HR data from Run is actually T2, I never got any Run data today.

This was a sprint finish with BOOM beating me by about 10-15 secs (pls confirm) - also, he has improved his bike sooooo much, my running has gotten better too, swim was about the same (i think) - he did lapped me at 11, so he's swimming about 9% faster than me (so much for being a slow swimmer). I had a great Ts - perfect setup no fumbling or being lost.  Great race!

Boom you were already gone when I got to T1.  not wearing socks will do taht!  LOL

if my numbers are right, my time was 2 min 27 sec faster today than June 21

I think it is time to move up to OLY distance training.

Hope that everyone who raced Top Gun had a great time tri-ing and congrats to those who brought home the metal.

Swim:    12:38
to T1:        :31
T!:             :30
Bike:      41:34
T2:             :40
Run:       27:05
Total:  1:23:00

last time was 1:26:31... 3:31 faster!

I was really pissed about the run... i had side cramps the whole time.   and had a tight shoulder the whole time was on the bike...  Stupid shots.  Couldn't go aero the whole ride.   Oh well, better luck next time.  Olman, you're run is getting alot better and it think my biking is getting better.  I think my swimming wasn't too bad.

I'm jumping to Olympic training now and will be doing my first in 3 weeks.  Hopefully i recover completely from surgery.  How long are you in miami?  I'm off this week and next week...  we should swim... i want to test out my new nose.
