To add to my questions about bicycle commuting and training...

Can anybody recommend a secure, good quality bike lock?

I've got a kryptonite U-lock and a long kryptonite cable with loops at each end. It may not be the best, but it's pretty good and I can get the frame and both wheels locked up.

I saw a TV segment on bike locks a few months back.  It's a program where they give unbiased reviews on everything from sport equipment to appliances to food etc.  Basically they had 2 former bike thieves take a crack at a bunch of different models and styles.  Basically, it took them about 5 seconds to get every one of them off the bike!  Moral of the story:  If it's a regular/professional bike thief, nothing is going to stop him.  I would suggest bringing it into your workplace and locking it up.
