I did the Sprint race at the Macon, Ga. Rock 'N Roll Triathlon. TONS of fun! No nerves this time around. The race was a blast. I'll post the detailed RR when the times are available. My first tri I was 11/12 AG...this time the initial results had me 15/26....MOVIN' UP BABY!!!! lol....

The best part of the day (yes, even better than my own finish) was watching the finishers of the HIM....that was so great to watch. Very inspiring. As each one crossed the finish it made me REALLY want to up the training and complete the HIM next year....

My race went as planned. No problems with the swim, which always my biggest concern. Bike was ok....no hill training in Savannah to speak of, so that was a shock to the legs. The run was an out and back...the out was just about all uphill, which after a tough bike leg was painful initially.

Only downside was a 12 yo girl blasting past everyone on the run....a guy next to me said, 'uh uh, not gonna let her do that"....he picked up the pace to match her for all of 20 seconds then fell back...I knew better than to even try! Also, a 64 yo guy blew past me on an uphill portion of the bike. I stepped on it and matched him to the top, caught him on the descent and flat, then he passed me again on the next climb...never to be seen again. That is what I hope to be doing to the younger guys in 22 years!!! That too was great to watch...Humbling, but great at the same time....Full RR to come.....

Congrats.

BTW, I think most all of us have been humbled by those much younger and older than ourselves.

X2

At my tri Oly in May I was passed on the bike by a 70 yo woman, and on the run by a 12 yo boy!

Great job. I am so euphoric after doing my first tri ... is there a letdown at all for your second? Or is it still pretty cool? For some weird reason, I'm worried about that. I'm glad you improved your time...maybe that's what makes the ensuing ones better?

Letdown??? Hardly...I am now looking at my schedule to see what else I can add on!! I am finding the desire to improve to be stronger....I was just happy to complete the first. Now improving on the second and realizing that I CAN get better for the next has me impatiently waiting for the end of the day to go train....

I cannot put into words how much I enjoy ACCOMPLISHING something like this. Even moreso the enjoyment and admiration for the guys/gals completing the HIM.... The guy on the PA system was really into it, the people just before the finishers shute were clapping and cheering, and I was finding myself saying, "I am going to do that next year".... So cool to watch.....even better to do, I imagine.... Letdown? Nope!

That's great to hear. I didn't think there would be one. I just loved the first one so much. It's awesome you are now inspired to try an HIM. I feel sorta kinda the same way about an Olympic one, but I think I'll save that thought until I do my first OW tri.

Again, great job and thanks for the thread. I look forward to your race report.
