Hi Folks,

Been trying (and tri-ing!) to lose weight for months now.  Still the same weight, to the pound, but went clothes shopping with a friend of mine last Friday, and found myself in size 8's for the first time in my life.  Even despite the size expansion in the fashion industry, I know this is a good sign....I had to go clothes shopping in the first place because my size 10 slacks were falling off of me. SO, HEY....much as I would like to be lighter so I can run and bike faster, I'll settle for just being smaller if that's all I can get!

Congrats you have converted some fat to muscle.

I weigh within 2 pounds of what I did in April and the new shorts I bought then are too big too.

Congrats,

Maybe there should be a New Size Challenge...Pick a body part and every couple of weeks we could post the measurement.

Weight is really immaterial if you're dropping clothing sizes.  That's what you really care about, right?  Be careful with getting hung up on the number (I have to remind myself this all the time)...the scale will lie to you.  But it's such an easy way to measure that we use it all the time.  1 lb. of muscle and 1 lb. of fat look totally different.  So, there is no doubt you are dropping body fat but putting on muscle if you're getting smaller but the scale isn't moving...and that added muscle will help you burn more all day long.  Well done!!!

the scale will eventually catch up right? I mean, it has too....doesn't it?

The scale may change or it may not.  I tend to think it will, as you put on more muscle you will continue to burn more fat, but it may not catch up as much as you hope.  Can you resolve yourself to not caring what the number is on the scale and only being concerned with clothing size/how you look? I realize as a female this is pretty much next to impossible, but really think about that.  The scale is such an easy way to see progress, so i use it too, but it can screw with your head with so much fluctuation.
