Subject: bike routes around richmond?

I just moved to richmond for school and I went for a ride today, south on 52 out of town, and was nearly hit twice, so i think I need to find a new route, I don't know the area at all and am wondering if there are some good country roads with little traffic that are good for cycling. I'd like to get into the mountains some too.

Any suggestions would be awesome!!!

I don't know the Richmond area at all, but check the public routes on this site and you can also look up routes at www.mapmyride.com.  Hope that helps.

BTW, I just checked and mapmyride has 70 routes that turn up when you search 'Richmond, KY'.

Thanks for the help. I went for a ride today on some narrow country roads with trees, rock plateaus, creeks, bridges, 500,000 dollar homes today. And almost zero traffic. It was the best ride of my life....this is really beautiful country.

That should not be a problem head south, east, or west. My guess looking at your avatar you are majoring in fire science, its a great program down there. Stay off 1st. street and study, you will have great success.

Thanks Tim, do you have experience with the program? Between studying, tri's, work, and apartment stuff, any freetime I have is going towards watching football and resting. Go Raiders!!!

Yes I was in industrial risk from 86-90. The program should be even better with the added labs. Have fun and don't drink too much downtown.
