I run 6 days per week and on my day off I've been riding(zone 2). Is this actually allowing me recovery time from running, or am I digging myself into a hole?

This has worked for me. I don't think of it as total recovery, however, as it is activity. I consider it a semi-recovery with the benefit of building up/maintaining fitness without the pounding of running. My experience has been that cycling benefits running, but running doesn't help out cycling. I am sure the next post will tell me that I am wrong

Time on the bike is always good.

I do my long run on Saturday, and my long bike on Sunday.  I find that the latter does help with recovery, though my real recovery day is Monday -- I don't run on that day.  (Back in the days when I ran 100mpw I'm sure I could easily run on that Monday to complete the recovery, but not these days -- I'm older and recovering from surgery.)  But I feel that the long ride on Sunday actually helps with overall recovery.  This could be total misperception on my part...

Thanks I was hoping it would be ok. It's hard to fit it all in when you are trying to prep for a marathon but enter the world of tri's as well. Swimming's next. I may have to add a few days to the week!

I marathon trained all last year and ran about 50-65 mpw and did one bike in the range of 20-40 miles. I also swam 1-2 times a week, about a mile each swim.  Swimming did not conflict at all with running--I swim more now and it still doesn't. But I have to be careful with the bike. The bike can ruin me for a speed workout or a long run. I think you are fine to bike as recovery just keep in mind what runs you have coming up.
