Subject: Dog Days, my first Triathlon

I have registered for my first triathlon; the Dog Days Triathlon on August 23 in Belmond, IA. It's pretty short, 3 mile run, 10 mile bike ride, and 150 meter swim. I'm looking forward to it. Is anybody else planning on going?

Here is the link to the race site, in case you're interested: http://dogdays.ccax.net/.

I am signed up for it. Looking forward to it, though I am unsure about starting the race running and swimming last. It should be fun. I talked with one of the lifeguards at my pool and he said his girlfriend has raced in Dog Days the last few years and really had a good time.

Congratson signing up for your first tri!  Are you living in Iowa now?  If so, where are you located?

clipperwind, I look forward to seeing BTer's at my races. I have heard that this is a small race so it shouldn't be that difficult to pick someone out. If you are interested in meeting a fellow BTer I should be wearing a blue tritop and black trishorts with small blue and orange strips down the sides. Look me up at the race.

I was going to do this race but decided on a 1/2 mary in Hampton the week after. Maybe next year.

 Have a great race!

Been pretty busy and haven't had a chance until today to see your posts. Thanks for posting and supporting me. I finished the Dog Days Triathlon in 60 minutes and 55 seconds. My friend, Joel, came with me and he beat me by about 30 seconds. He took first place in the 9-14 class and I took 5th place in the 25-29 class. It was a lot of fun, I hope to do another one. I think I'm done for this year, though. My hayfever got so bad the last few days that I can barely manage to walk, let alone run, bike or swim. It will subside by the end of September or so, but by then all of the races are done for the year. Does anyone know of any indoor events during the winter?
