It's fun. Don't expect bike racks. You just lay your bike on the ground anywhere you want. Watch the turn going under 95, if you take it wide there is a nasty groove in the pavement.

It's fun and casual (non-USAT, so you don't have to shell out the extra $10).

The distances are wonky, but given that it is put on by a swim club, make sense.

i like the distances for a warm up event, i swim and bike better than run right now, so i figured it would be good practice, and to get a couple of transitions under my belt. I think i might sign up for it and treat it like an extended brick workout.

Baitboy, how did you set up your bike, did you use like a plastic stand or milkcrate or something or lay it on the ground??  I read your race report, that corner sounds like it sucked, hope you healed ok, and great job on the finish with the crash.

All signed up for the race, with my calf injury i will not be doing the run portion, i am thinking of just race walking or walking it so i do not DNF , but i will use the swim as practice with other people since i have not yet swam in a large group. The calf only hurts while running, so biking and swimming are not an issue.

Anyone want to go do 2 laps of the bike course this week (am or pm)  or Sat Morning??

Just lay it on the ground. Set up your bike as close to the cannon and as close to the road (parking lot closest to the beach) as possible. You come out of the swim and they have no rule against just jumping on you bike and going. Also... this is not a USAT sanctioned event, so drafting is legal, if you want.
