I've never owned a Guzzi, but I've got a few friends who have them.  Everyone who has one (various models) loves it.  I can't recall if Aprilia still owns the company or if they sold it off when they hit their financial troubles last year?  In any case, I've not heard of any quality/performance related problems with them.  Hopefully someone has some more direct experience with that model...

Thanks

I have only heard that there can be an issue with the gear box from 1st to 2nd but other than that there seems to be nothing but praise from other forums I have been on.

Still want more input from any others who might have an opinion.

Guy I work with owns a Guzzi, but I've never noticed if he's had problems with it. It's an older model...perhaps 15 yrs (?) but he always had good things to say about it. I think after looking at different bikes at Mid-Ohio, if I had to buy an Italian sports bike, I'd go with the Aprilia over the Ducati. As far as the Guzzi, I can't get past the cylinder head layout...are the new bikes still the same design?

Another thought...The thing about the Guzzi, like all exotics, is nothing is standard and nothing is cheap.  I had a friend who was re-using the oil filter on his MV Augusta because he couldn't get one here in the U.S.  It took him close to a year to find a place in Italy to ship him one.  I'd make sure you have a reputable shop near you for your routine maintenance needs.

Hmmmm....I had not thought of that. I test road the beast the other day and it fits me almost perfectly! MMmmmm feels good! But a bit pricy though. I would have to get a 2 or 3 year old one.

Still keen for more opinions though and thanks for the one already given.

Cheers.

PS week one of couch to sprint done.
15 to go.
