Subject: RE: 12 months training.What your doing makes sense, but I would say to trim back your weight training a bit and focus more on building your aerobic base. When the spring rolls around, you're going to quickly ramp up your tri-specific training times and you want to make sure you have the aerobic foundation to support that increase in training. Focus on losing weight during the off-season because, when you start your IM-specific training, you're going to naturally start to eat more and be more hungry. You'll likely continue to lose weight and BF as your body re-structures itself in response to the increased training. It seems that you have the proper mindset and a willingness to put in the work necessary to achieve your IM goal. Follow the advice of your coach, and don't be afraid to ask questions if you aren't sure of something or find yourself in difficulty. A good coach can explain not only the "why" in general terms, but the "why" specific to you as an athlete. Good luck and enjoy the adventure. |
