Subject: Encinitas Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread

I am planning on doing the sprint this year. I have been in Hawaii for the last 4 years and so don`t even own a wetsuit. Will the water be so cold I will need one? Will most people be wearing them? Where do you suggest I buy one if so??

the water temp will probably still be well under 70 degrees for the race, so most people will be wearing wetsuits.  even when the water warms up to a toasty 72, most people still wear wetsuits in CA.  if you plan on doing mulitple tris in CA, I would just get a wetsuit.  if it is only one race, i might rent one.

Hey Tizzy. I'm doing this race as well.

If you can find a suit to rent and/or borrow than you should go to http://www.xterrawetsuits.com/ and get on their mailing list. In the last year they have had two major sales on their suits. I just picked up a new Vortex John for $99. 

This obviously won't help you for this race but they have some great deals and I really like the suit.

I'm in for this one as well!

As for a wetsuit, I would definitely recommend it for this race ... it will be chilly.  I think you can also rent them at Nytro in Encinitas (?)
