Subject: Cannondale Road Bike..
Recently completed my first tri (using my commuting/hybrid bike) and had a great time..
Contemplating purchasing a slightly more competive/serious road bike.. as it doesn't seem particularly cost effective to completely overhaul the HYBRID (wheels, handle bars, pedals, etc)...

Have a lead on a Cannondale.. CAAD 96 frame (my size) with CAAD 7 components.. new bike.. an in shop mix/match build... they are asking $1050.00..

Welcome any insights..

I would say, first, test ride this bike and make sure it fits ok and feels comfortable. Also, you can go to your bike shop and get fitted there, and they can tell you what size bike you should be looking at. If you can find a place that sells Cannondale, then you can even get fitted for a similar frame there. What year is it? Is this 105 and Ultegra components?

To clarify my last post a bit...

The bike is new... not used... and is at the shop.. not 110%, but guessing it is the 2009 model.
Frame remains a CAAD 96... the components are CAAD 7 - SORA

Welcome any insight

Like someone posted before be sure to test ride.  I went in to get a Trek and after test riding 5 or so models I actually left with a diff bike! Just ride and ride and ride and get which ever bike your most comfortable with.

I don't know if those are in Canadian dollars or US? But Shimano typically makes the components (brakes, derailleurs, etc) and Sora is, unfortunately, the bottom of the barrel. I would shoot for something that mixes Tiagra and 105 at a minimum. Preferably, 105 all around. Don't know what your budget is but that's my 2 cents.
