Subject: Texan in Omaha...
Hey y'all

I'm going to be in Omaha tomorrow (8/18) thru Thursday afternoon (8/20) for work. I'm looking to get a run in on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning or night, and Thursday morning. I'm staying at the Courtyard - Aksarben Village.

Anyone know of good AND safe routes in the area....maybe one with water fountains? Anyone up for 5 - 6 miles on any of those days? If no one goes with me, I usually quit around mile 4.

I'm looking around a 9:35 - 9:45 pace.

Thanks,

-brad

Brad, First of all welcome. Not sure if you know the area or not, but you are not too far way from the University of Nebraska at Omaha which is on about 42nd and Dodge. On Tuesday evenings, the Team Nebraska Tri club does run workouts on the track at 5:45. I won't be there, but there is a good group of people of all abilities.

Hi Brad and welcome to Omaha!! Laughing

I work in down town Omaha at Conagra foods. The campus here at the head quarters has a great path you can run behind the buildings; it is 1 mile around the lake. You can pretty much start anywhere, and if you want to continue, the path goes up and down the Missouri River to a pedestrian bridge that crosses over into Iowa. Anyway that’s an idea if you’re up for coming down town.
It's a really nice view if you come at night. Hope this helps.

Mindy

You are about 4blks South of Elmwood Park. Run North, follow the paths through the park up to UNO. You can also cross Dodge St (North side of UNO) at the pedestrian overpass on the East end of campus and run in Memorial Park. All safe places to run.

There is also a nice bike path about 3blks West. It follows a creek, and goes under all the street crossings. Kinda boring, but it's there If you have a bike, it's a good option.

If you're on the Keystone trail (the creekside trail), there are bathroom facilities and a drinking fountain by the softball fields adjoining the College of Saint Mary (just north of Center St on the trail)
