Subject: Long run routes in Lewisville/Denton area?
Since the major push forward on the commuter rail that has destroyed my favorite running trail I have to find some new running routes.  For the past couple weeks I have been running on the roads but I would much prefer running on a trail.  Mainly for the shade, plus it's also easier on the legs.

Oh yeah, also when this rail from Denton to Carrollton was originally proposed there was supposed to be a pedestrian/bicycle path across lake lewisville adjacent to the track, which made the rail more appealing to many folks.  This plan has been scrapped and now the bike/pedestrain path will run only from Denton to south Hickory Creek and not across lake lewisville.  Frown

Back to my original question though, Anyone know of any good trail running routes in the Lewisville/Denton area?

I know there are the mountain bike trails at Lake Grapevine and Lake Ray Roberts. These are popular for running. Closest I know of to you.

Check DORBA's site for trail info and conditions.

Sweet. The link to DORBA is pretty cool and very helpful.  I think I'll try out the Northshore trail in Flower Mound for my next run.  Looks like a 9.5 mile stretch.  Thanks.

Keep in mind Northshore is 9.5 miles each way. Take this into account before just running to the end/turn-around if you are only wanting 10 miles.

That's the way I read it as well.  I have a 3hr run tomorrow so that would work out great.

It's a nice little trail - somewhat technical for these parts. There are usually a lot of bikers on the trail, so I would suggest leaving the headphones at home or keeping the volume down pretty low.
