Subject: "runny" nose on the bike
Sort of a gross question:

When I work out, I work out HARD (for me).  When I get huffing and puffing, my nose runs.  Not like a sniffle, but like the Winter Olympic Athletes doing the Biathlon... it POURS big gobs of nasty snot...It does the same thing when I swim (but I breathe through my nose then).  Nothing when I am running.

Maybe something to do with my head's position relative to the ground- ie. head down?

Sorry to be gross... just curious and a little bored at work.

In corporate snot rockets into your training.  They can be a little messy at first but in time you will be able to let them fly quick and accurate without any effort.

This is called exercise-induced rhinitis.  I have it as well and understand it is extremely common.  I have read that a shot of nasal spray pre-workout helps.  I haven't tried it yet, but plan to.

As a ski racer, I have been friends with the snot rocket for many years now... it's not like that though.  This stuff resembles slime, and it is non stop... I do, ahem, clear my nose, occasionally on the bike (I try to avoid it at the public pool)... but it is relentless... you should see my sleeves after even a short ride.
