I travel from time to time with my job and we started sharing rooms to cut down on expenses. We usually have very long working hours, start early 7am and go late 9pm while on the road. I still like to get my morning run in but get up at 4:30 or 5:00 am. This is normal for me and does not bother me to get this early. I stage everything I need in the bathroom and always ask my roommate if it bothers them. Just not sure if there a better way to handle these situations or if anyone else can share how to handle travel and exercise.

Sounds like you're being plenty considerate. I've had travel roommates that don't bother to ask about anything or try to work with me to make the shared room more comfortable for both. The fact that you asked and make sure to stage your stuff in the bathroom is plenty.

I have this isue when i travel with dear wife. Many hotels have a gym with at least a big bathroom and many with a locker room ... you can plan this into your travel itenerary, hopefully. So I just do all my stuff in the lobby restroom or gym locker room. Dear wife has pretty much kicked me out of the hotel head altogether now.... even after i get back!

I have the same family issue.  I lay my stuff out the night before so I can find it by feel.  In the morning after finding my stuff I go into the bathroom with the light off.  I turn it on once the door is shut.  I change.  Turn the light off.  Exit said bathroom.  The tricky part is getting the door to room open without the hall light shining in on everyone in the room.  I go run.  I try to make it back before everyone is awake.  I then don't say much about the run.  Especially don't tell your business partners how great and wonderful it felt to run that morning.  If they ask, make it sound like a compulsion you wish you could shake.

I went on a trip to Vietnam about 14 years ago.  My colleagues thought I was an embarrassment to them and the whole country by jogging.  I had to keep it really quiet.

I rarely travel for my job, but I travel on weekends (judge marching bands) and occasionally share a room.  I exit quietly and re-enter quietly, but I never apologize for my "running habit".

I travel every now and then for work too and have the same situation...always have a roomie, always getting up early to hit the gym.  I use my phone as my alarm clock...put it on vibrate and put it under my pillow.  Use the glow from my phone to navigate to the bathroom where everything is staged.
