Comments:

The bike portion was a lot of fun. The corse for the most part was fast, rough. The hlls were a lot taller than i was used to, but i felt my performance good. There were two places on the course that were really fun. One was a fast switch back through some curves and the other was a long down hill that felt lke i was going 60 mph which turned out to be 37 mph. none the least it was awsome and i caught two other riders. PROBLEY could have gone faster on the course, but being my first TRI i DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY SELF. Now I do!
What would you do differently?:

Ride the course prior to the race.

Comments:

lay out Tranition area better.
Run
  • 31m 18s
  • 3.3 miles
  • 09m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

The trail was awsome! It was humid as hell, but a lot of fun. My run started out slow, but by about a mile in I settled in to a nce rythem.
Before the race the director said the one water station was at about the half way mark, I thnk that was a liitle off. The trail was hilly and muddy in places and I am glad I bought trail runnng shoes they dd not slip one bit and i felt sure footed. When I thought that the end off the run was nearing The lady with the flag said "just a little under a mile and a half left" My heart sank because I was sure that I was closer than that. Had I know the course I could have gone faster. I just need to get off my ass and push my self to the limit and see what happens. so what if i end up walking I will learn from it!
What would you do differently?:

Need to do hill work and interval training!
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around transition site and vist wth competitors.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental toughness!

Event comments:

I had a lot of fun. I will do again next year!

Performance: Below average
Suit: orca p-flex
Course: Course was 200 yds out then left for 100 yds then 200 back. I just about missed the swim start do to not having my wet suit on and ready durng pre race meeting. That was probley a good thing since when i got to the water the horn went off and I had no time to think about the swim and the fact i have never been in open water like that. At about 150 yards I had an over welming sensaton of drowding. At that point I started to breast stroke to get my nerves under control. I have not done all this work to quit now. The rest of the swim was freestyle/breast stroke. My suit which was rented was a size to small and I think it contributed to my shoulders gettng tired quikly and the fact started out to quickly. Over all it could have been better, but got out of the water and that was my goal. Surprzing enough puttng my face n the water and sighting dd not seem to be a problem. Get goggle that don't fog up under stress!

Nice Job! Don't sweat the swim anxiety...seems like a lot of people get freaked in their first tri swim. Good comments about not knowing what to expect from yourself. I TOTally relate to that. Next time you will cut major time. Looks like you are hooked! you'll keep going over in your head ways to cut time...training harder...YOu just can't wait till the next race. Hey..there is no limit to what you can do. Good job and keep training hard!
