I read this article and I have to admit the guy is funny and right on target.... Naturally I disagree with him politically... but I like his candor, when most of my liberal friends spew "I support the tro.....blah blah blah"

Yeah this one made be laugh.  Especially once I realized he's not being as inflamatory as the opening line sounds.  He's not like the "Forsake our Troops" idiot rooting for people to get killed.  His understanding of the purpose of the military seems a bit shallow, but I give him an A for presentation.

Funny article.  I hve to admit the yellow ribbons on the back of cars - especially gas guzzlers - bug me.  "I support the troops" - How?  Show me a blue star flag over your rearview mirror or  a www.fallensoldiersfund.com bumpersticker instead.

I saw a ribbon for sale that said "Support the magnetic ribbon industry" lol.

I'd like to support that author's face with my fist. While the magnetic car stickers have gotten completely out of hand, this writer is trying to drum up attention to his anti-war sentiment by insulting the men and women in harm's way. He needs to focus more on why they're over there in the first place without hanging the troops out to dry.

It's like those protesters who showed up at the soldier's funeral waving anti-war banners and antagonizing his family outside the church. Man, I'd love 5 minutes with those bastards.

Interesting intellectual position on the issue of war...now let me take my boot off of Mr Stein's larynx so he can elaborate on what he meant by:

"But blaming the president is a little too easy. The truth is that people who pull triggers are ultimately responsible, whether they're following orders or not. An army of people making individual moral choices may be inefficient, but an army of people ignoring their morality is horrifying."

Soldiers in war make moral choices. But whether or not to pull the trigger is not a moral choice. It's a "I'm going to kill you so you don't kill me or my buddy so we can go home to see our families" choice. This is another example of an intellectual trying to explain something about which he has absolutely no first hand knowledge. I'm sure Mr. Joel Stein would have a different opinion about the men who defeated the Nazis in WWII by ingnoring their own morality. What's horrifying is people who fail to understand that there are commitments that one makes that supercede one's own morality. Would he question the individual morality of our soldiers if our enemies were pouring over our borders and parachuting into our cities? These guys signed up to serve without question. You have a problem with the war, fire the phuking politicians that sent them there. Don't bash the guys that protect us and allow us to sleep with both eyes closed at night. What a jacka$$.

I think this article demonstrates what most liberal politicians believe deep down inside but are not willing to stick his/her neck out.

One of my pastimes is political talk radio and for the most part the conservative talk show host enjoyed the article but most of my lib friends didn’t care for it.
