Subject: Hershey Half Marathon : Official Thread

I figured I'd start a thread for this one.


It's hard to believe, but this will be my first stand alone HM.  I've only ever ran this distance during training and HIM's.  I'm curious to see how I do running on fresh legs.

This was my wife's first HM last year. It was a great venue for taking cheering kids, since we just did the free chocolate world ride over and over.

We won't be able to return this year, as I am dragging the family south to do the B2B HIM, but we can vouch for it as a great event.

i did the event last year and again this year.  nice turnout (think 2000-2500 ppl) great support the entire course, with a 200m finish in hershey stadium (awesome turning a corner into a stadium having ppl in bleachers and lining the finish cheering!) As mentioned before also tons of places for spectators!

My wife is doing this race this year and it's awesome. They get a lot of community support. Hershey has a a 5K in the spring that is a nice little event too. Hershey is a nice little town that could def pull off a legitimate Tri.

There are discussions in the works that the organizers of the hershey HM and hershey 10k (held in april) and sponsed by the ronald mcdonald house are working to add a tri to the races.  the 10k didnt get the turnout they expected this year so it made discussions of adding a tri got pushed back a bit.  But still both races had great turnouts, 2500 for the HM (soldout) and 1500-1700 for the 10k
