Run NYC Marathon...

You may not give or sell your race number or timing chip to someone else. Anyone found participating with another person’s number will be disqualified and both people will be barred from future New York Road Runners events, including the ING New York City Marathon.

Exactly the reason I am amused by the fact that people are willing to shell out over $350 for this.

Pretty funny when you look at the questions they ask him. He keeps saying he is gone and can't "give" you the bib/chip even if your local and meet him outside packet pickup. He will mail it to you. 

the marine corp marathons has allowed people to transfer bib's, well they did in the past, then this year said they wouldn't after NYC lotto' results were posted.. then a few weeks later said they would again.I  'm sure there are others that allow you to transfer also.. but marine corps is the only one I know of

Most races provide some way to transfer bib numbers, but it usually requires contacting the RD.  I know we've discussed that issue before, too.

But seriously...this whole auction is dumb.
