Subject: Just Finished Training For Today And Hungry
Hey guys. I just finished my first day of training and it felt great! I've always been in great shape, but I've never really had a goal to keep me motivated. I'm 5'11, 160 lbs, and about 9% bf! Now that I'm training to become a triathlete, I feel more focused and determined, and it feels great!

Anyway, I biked for 48 minutes today and swam for 24 and shortly after I came home, I was starving. Of course I had breakfast this morning, but it had a been a few hours since I ate. Anyway, I ended up eating two bowls of Frosted Flakes with skim milk, a large glass of water, and a can of tuna..

It got me to thinking - what are some good recovery meals I should be eating? And how was mine?

There are lots of thoughts on this.  Especially when it comes down to specific brands and ingredients.  A good rule of thumb until you decide to go pro...if it is healthy for you then eat it.  I would worry too much about it.  Stay away from trans fats, lots of sugary things, junk food in general.  Here are some things I like: Wheaties, chocolate milk, oatmeal, anything with carbs and a little protien.

Chocolate milk is a cheap and effective choice. It has the proper carb/protein ratio your body needs to successfully recover.

Good luck and enjoy your training!!!

Instead of simply saying it was "bad", perhaps you could post some more constructive criticism?

Well put. Carbs and protien are essential for recovery . Shoot for complex carbs though (like lower sugar cereals - not frosted flakes). Having some whole-whey protien mix around to add to various things makes for a nice protien addition. Cottage cheese is wonderful too for long-term muscle recovery.
