I will say that the training is going better and the running is definitely getting easier. I cant go for a long distance but I can go for 6 mins plus now w/out stopping and hurting. I am creating a blog as well to track my journey and also the research and gear that I get etc. So if anyone wants to read it out of boredom or even comment that would be awesome.

Mark,

Like the blog.  My problem has always been sticking to a diet.  I pulling for you!  As for trunks for swimming, I started with a pair of running shorts.  I've always had some even though I didn't run.  They might work for you.  You can also check out swimoutlet.com.  They have good prices.  Last, if you know someone who sews, maybe they can make you some if you buy the material.  I've made some speedos for myself in the past (poor when I was in college too.  plus I'm the crazy clysdale who prefers them!)  Then there's always the barting method.

I think I am leaning towards a pair of the pearl izumi jammer tri shorts. I am excited for my goggles. Running is getting to be more enjoyable and after this week I am going to hit the gym hard again. This project at work has me working a ton.

That's a good move. I recently got myself a pair and have never looked back. Good Luck with the journey.

I think once I get the goggles I can really focus on the swimming. It is hard because I am so worried about hitting the lane line and what not. Yesterday I did a little run where I swam 1/4 mile, biked for 8 and then ran a half mile. Felt pretty good, just wanted to get a feel for the 3 in a row. The hardest part is still the diet for me now.

Mark,

Do you need goggles?  I have an extra pair.  At the tri, someone dropped their swim cap and goggles in my bag.  I discovered them after I got home.  You're more than welcome to them.

I actually just ordered a pair of the speedo vanquisher 2.0 on saturday. I cant wait to try them out, I have been working on the breathing and kicking while swimming and I think this is the missing piece.
