Subject: Hed Jet Front Wheel, 650 - $50 shipped in CONUS Hed Jet front wheel, 650 size, 18 spokes, built onto a 36 hole Shimano 600 hub by skipping every other hole. The carbon fiber is built onto an aluminum rim, and while it does lend some stiffness to the rim, it is essentially a fairing. The spokes are held by the aluminum rim. Wheel is true and round, rolls very smooth. This is NOT a new wheel – by pedigree, it may have been ridden by Scott Tinley (as the frame they came on was made for him by QR ). There is one spoke that has a bit of a ghetto fix to it – the spokes use a proprietary nipple that is trued from the outside of the rim (from the tire side ). It appears that this spoke broke, and was replaced with a normal spoke and nipple (round spoke instead of bladed ). This spoke nipple does stick up a bit, but the wheel was ridden as is, and it’s not noticeable when riding. Also, there are areas where the carbon has been cracked. It would appear that the wheel was hung on a hook, possibly with a bike attached. As I said before, the carbon is non-structural, so the strength of the wheel is unaffected, and aerodynamically, it’s negligible. Velox rim strip included. $50 shipped in the CONUS.
