Ride from Houston to Galveston?

We were down at surfside a couple of weeks ago and rode across the bridge into galveston and back.  For right or wrong, I didn't pay and just went through the toll.  There is a stop sign at the toll that I slowed down for.

I've heard of a ride that goes from like Mont Belvieu, down through Crystal Beach, over to Galveston and up to Kemah.  I'll be damned if I can't remember the name though.

I did the Memorial Hermann 70.3 in Galvestion earlier this year and that course was not bad at all. 
I am game for the ride, if we can find a good route to get to Galveston from Houston.

I have also heard of a ride going from Mont Belvieu area to Crystal Beach area, we used to ride our motorcycles on that route to get down to the beach...

There is (or was) the Bike Around the Bay that was a 2 day ride like the MS150. That may be what you are thinking of.

I live down south off 45 in League City. I've pretty much ridden all the routes possible south of houston! You can simply ride the causeway to Galveston now, it has a huge shoulder and isn't all that bad! Riding from Surfside to Galveston is a better ride though. Getting to Surfside, I'd take 35 to 523 which would take you almost to surfside and then you just have to hop on 332 for a few miles at the end. Good ride on fairly quiet roads the whole way.

You don't have to pay at the San Louis Pass.
