Subject: RE: Marathon training question: replacing a long run with an oly distance trirunnerx - 2006-04-26 8:25 PM I don't think so. A long run is a long run. Just do it next week instead and then continue with your schedule, even if it's back to back weeks of long runs. The following week is a recovery week (10 mile long run) and then the next week is a 14 miler. Do you think I should do 12/14 instead of 10/14 for the following 2 weeks? I'm sure this will be the difference maker in my finish time in July (sarcasm). Why am I even worrying about this? Unless I do 2 long runs in one week to make up the difference, which I think would be stupid, we're talking about a difference of 2 miles over 2 weeks---ooooooh! Thanks for your input, your point about doing the long RUNS is well taken. You cannot substitute other aerobic activity for the pounding of running if you want you legs/joints to be as ready as your heart/lungs. |
