anyone know a good spot near St Kilda to stay ? ideally near or have a pool ? visiting on biz in a few weeks time

Plenty of spots along the Esplanade in St Kilda to stay.  Might get a touch noisy as it is a lively part of town on weekends and nights.

Alternatively try Albert Park or St Kilda road for an apartment / hotel.  Trams nearby will get you into the city or back to St Kilda assuming you don't have a car or other transport.  My company puts up international visitors at the Blackman hotel which is near my work on St Kilda Road (http://www.artserieshotels.com.au/blackman?gclid=ciiq6kul9rycfyfepqodcnuaig)

Most pools in hotels are quite small, better off checking out the Melbourne Sports Aquatic Centre (or MSAC to the locals) which has a number of pools, located in Albert Park and has trams running quite close to it.  It also has a gym attached to it I believe (http://www.msac.com.au/)

Suggest near Albert park lots of hotels overlooking and a stones throw from msac pool. Great pool and running around the park track a nice 5km track

We rented an apt. in Port Melbourne when we visited my sister.  Not too far from Albert Park and was close to a tram into Melbourne CBD.  We really enjoyed running along the Parade and a few blocks away was another tram that ran close to the Aquatic Center.
