How come Lance's time hasn't changed?

I will try to sort it out for you...... The guy that is in the lead right now was allowed to get such a big lead because Lance and the rest of the contenders believe he will fade away to nowhere in the mountains. The people that have been winning the stages lately are sprinters and they are allowed to win. They have not put anytime on the contenders because they were in such great defecit due to bad time trials or accidents. Lance and the rest of the contenders have only coasted along not allowing the yellow jersey to get a bigger lead or a contender get away. Tommorow is where you will start to see who has the best chance of winning and should see armstong or ullrich take the yellow jersey in the next couple of days. It is going to be a very exiting next 9 days!!!!!

ps also in the sprint stages the peloton is usually together and there is no time difference between them and leaders.

Ok, perhaps I wasn't clear. I understand that Voekler doesn't have a shot in the mountains. I'm not concerned that Armstrong is 9:35 behind. ;-)

I don't understand why his time behind the leader has not changed. He's been 9:35 behind for days now. As I see it, the only way to remain 9:35 behind the leader is to tie the leader every day. I don't think that's been happening and that's why I'm confused. For instance, in stage 9, Lance maintained 9:35 behind Voekler (he's been 9:35 behind the leader since stage 5). However, he placed 44th and Voeckler placed 29th. So, how come Lance's time behind the leader didn't increase?

Because they were both in the peloton and had the same time. A person could be at rear end of the peleton and get the same time as the the person is at the front. The only time there would be any time difference is if the person at the front of the peloton is in the top three and gets a time bonus.

Oh. So even though the peleton may be spread out over 30 secs or so, they all get the same time? Weird.

The reason that they set-up the times like that is that the peloton, really is seen as one time. They as a team of people have earned a specific time. If there is a 10 second (I think) gap in the peloton group, it is seen as two groups and a 10 second difference would show up for the front peloton group and the second.
