85 yo Ginsburg has missed oral arguments for the first time ever. She had a fall and as a result of the examination they found she had cancer so she had surgery. She is at home recovering and working virtually from home.

I will never understand what motivates people but this is telling.

"She famously was back on the bench the day after her beloved husband Marty passed away so she's obviously very committed to the job."

What a horrible person! Just my opinion, YMMV.

At any rate, it would seem her time on the bench is coming to an end. It will be interesting to see what - if anything - the left and the right learned from the Kavanaugh hearings. Will we see the same thing? No. My guess would be that Trump will nominate a woman. This will destroy page one of the left's opposition play book, "accuse them of sexual assaults". If Trump really wanted to throw a wrench at dems he would nominate a pro-abortion but otherwise ultra conservative (if there is such a contradictory person).

I wish RBG a speedy recovery with all my heart but I wish she would spend her final months/year with her family. Not sure what the rules are if she does not show up for work but my guess is they could not 'remove' her from the bench for quite some time even if she was AWOL.

At any rate, I will set my DVR to record the hysterics from the left when she announces her resignation.

My guess is she'll announce her resignation the day a Democrat wins the presidency...if she lives that long.  I don't see her WILLINGLY allowing Trump to nominate her replacement.

Some on the left are already condemning her for not resigning under Obama. Not very fair to her though as no one expected the heir-apparent HRC to lose.

I'm not in the medical field but it seems to me that when people get to be that age medical issues tend to compound. e. g. Fall and break a hip.....confined to bed....get a cold....cold leads to pneumonia and you die. In RBG's case she broke a rib and they found cancer and she had surgery. Surgery at 78 is hard. OTOH, my mom had open heart surgery twice at 77 and is now 83 and physically healthy.

Not to read too much into the tea leaves but she had surgery on 21 Dec...and 3 weeks later she is still at home.

I hate to do a "live" post....but I have taken my daughters to the local fufu brunch restuarant and there are 2 couples at the little connected table next to us who are discussing RBG and having the vapors....as my grandma used to say. At one point one of the ladies looked over at me during what was obviously a stressful part of their discussion.....I just looked at her and said, "this is all so horrible", in my best sympathetic voice......my twins were choking on their food. LMAO

I hope you bludgeoned them with a bread stick. The ladies, not the twins.
