Subject: Long Slow Run Saturday morning???

Well, Deanna is leaving town again so I am without running partner for my looong run on Saturday.  I can't even take Jasper as it is over 20 miles (aiming for 23) and a little too warm for him by the end of the run.  I could really use some company for the run or just for part of the run.  I'm not as happy as Jasper about going for the run but then I don't slobber either.  I live on the east side and will likely be doing a loop near my house, then hitting the Capital City Trail.

I can leave anytime between 5AM and 6AM.

Just let me know.  Thanks.

Anna

Wifey heads up Nort' to pick up #2 son, and I have to be with #1 and #3 son for #1's football game in Lodi that morning.  Sorry.

Thanks anyway for replying.

Just so you have fair warning, when I say slow I mean about 10-11 minute miles.  But hey, I may fall down or something so it is entertaining anyway.

hmm i'm spotting a trend here.....

So mini-hijack.....my plan for the marathon distance doesn't have me running past 20...your running 23 because you not doing your first or something....(just interested) ??

Some people can do marathons after running 20 miles.  I did my first marathon after training up to 20 miles and the last 6 miles were awful.  My next marathon I trained to 24 miles and was fine (although still slow).  My third marathon I only trained to 21 and suffered again.  It could be just mental (and plenty of people have said something about my being mental) but I need to train more than 21 miles to run a marathon.  I know this from experience but I also know of people who were fine after only training to 20.

I have noticed most of the people who are best able to run a first marathon after training up to 20 miles are younger than me (I'm 39 so lots of people are younger than me).  I would also recommend running with a pacing group.  I am sure Lakefront has them.

Tell you what, I am just getting back into shape myself and am at least as slow as you.  I also would prefer to have company during the race so if you wanted to run the race together I would stay with you as we are both running at Lakefront.

Frankly that would be nearly impossible.  My seven year old could probably beat me by the time I hit mile 22 (of course she is scary fast for a 7 year old) Smile
