Subject: New Triathlete

Hey,

 

I'm starting to train for my first triathalon next summer (2009) and was wondering what would be the best race to enter as a new competitor. I am a 22 yo male.

Welcome to Triathlons. I know there are alot of nice triathlons in the northern IL and Southern WI.

Which distance are you looking to do?

I would check out the beginners area on this web site. Work through the questions and

you will have a fair idea on where to begin and how to start your training.

Less than 2 hours to your south is Lake Mattoon, they have a bunch of triathlons throughout the year, all sorts of distances too. Check em out!

ryan sorry for my late reply.  Definitely get hooked up with the TriSharks club there in Bloomington.  www.tri-shark.org

The Trishark or Evergreen sprints would be good starter races.  The club is very active and has weekly swimming and biking group events as well as casual events.  BTW, welcome to BT and to the central IL area.  I live in Champaign so feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.
