Dang. You know how most years you can walk most of the Devil's Lake swim? Yah, don't think that's going to happen this year. Remember how you usually stand on the beach to start? Well, there is no beach. Water comes right up to the sea wall. I'm not sure how they're doing the swim start this year. Dive from the wall perhaps? (I jest.)

Oh, and the parking lot for boat trailers? - still completely underwater.  There were kids "swimming" over the parking lot. The steps where you exit the swim? The first 4 or 5 are underwater. It's crazy man. Crazy!

And there is a THICK nasty line of lake weeds about 50-60 yards off the North shore. We camped there last weekend, so I did a few swims across the lake, but getting through the weeds on the way across was pretty disgusting.

I personally blame Deanna as she thought it was a good idea for me to sign up Tongue out

I was there on Tuesday afternoon (stopover from Mirror Lake at the end of a camping trip) and couldn't believe how much the lake had gone down in 3 weeks.  I swam it on the 3rd and the water was over the wall by an inch or two, and the line of weeds wasn't as thick as they are now. There were still small pools in the picnic areas, but that's all open now too.

What's the deal with the weed barrier?  I don't remember it last year.  Wouldn't that be great to swim through for this year's race?  People could pull themselves along using the  weeds.

Just don't think about another 33 degree start.  I'd like to feel my feet sometime during the race.

I think that's about when I started to feel mine, too. Here's fingers crossed for warmer (but not too warm) temps.

You caught me.  The stumps I was running on had a tingling sensation in that last mile.

Slightly warmer weather would be nice - my T1 was over 6 min, but I was quite toasty (save for below the shins)!   I eventually put gloves on so I just needed a blanket to complete the ensemble.
