Subject: Swimming with Garmin 205
I have my first Olymipic in 2 weeks.  I'd like to wear my Garmin 205 the entire race so I can keep track of my over all time and my pace during the run.  The information that came with the Garmin does not recommend swimming with it, but it does say it is water resistant.  Do people swim with these watches?  I would hate to ruin an expensive watch.  Thanks for the help.

zip lock baggie under your swim cap works well.

Put it on in T2. The race results will have all your times.

I have a 305, which I assume has the same chest strap.  I would not even consider swimming with the 305 unit but, has anyone swam with the chest strap?  It would be difficult (and time consuming) to put the chest strap on in T1 wearing a one peace tri suit.

HR chest strap works fine to wear the entire race.

I've tried swimming with my 305 in a baggie, in my cap and it didn't work very well

Thanks for the help, I guess I won't wear it, I will just wear a standard watch.

BTW, the 205 does not have the heart rate monitor, so no chest strap.
