So I ordered the 2007 Kona DVD online to have something other than TV for the trainer.  It cost me $42 total, took 2 weeks to get here, and I come to find out it is only an hour long (which was not posted on the website).  Should I be as agitated as I am, or am I overreacting?

Yikes, at that cost I'd be pretty mad at myself for not checking into it. The worst part is, you may have no recourse. I'd check, though, to see if I could return it!

The hassle of returning it isn't really worth the 40 bucks, I think the suckiest part is that since it was that price I would assume it would be AT LEAST 2 or 2/1 hours.  Bygons...

yeah they really like to over charge for that dvd.  Its super expensive.  There is a reason I do not buy them.  Most of the time I never really like alot of there coverage anyways.

The run time was about 74 minutes, but the thing that annoyed me was the song at the end of the NBC broadcat wasn't on the DVD. That really bummed me out but I still have the thing on TEVO.

But since I can actually see myself at the swim start, it was worth it.

I'm not surprised by this at all.  I mean the race itself cost over $500 plus expensive finisher gear, extra meals for family before the race etc, nothing would really surprise me.  Now granted I have never done and MDot branded race but have talked to people who have.

Maybe I just didn't look hard enough, but is there a reason why Ironman itself would not put out a full DVD series for each Kona event?  I mean, the race coverage we all watched live on the web lasted at least 10 hours.  I would pay between $60-80 for that coverage.  Just imagine how much faster your trainer rides would go watching a good 1-2 hours of the pros grinding to Hawi and back.

I know Tour De' France does this, why wouldn't Ironman?!
