Comments:

KILLER Ride! I've heard a lot about this ride and it is hard, but not as tough as I have been told. Very enjoyable... long hard climbs with fast and furious downhills. Crashed with 5 miles to go... Finished with road burn and to ad insult to injury, the beer wasn't free! Good food though...
Post race
Warm down:

None

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No need to race as this was a fun training ride. I let the course dictate my effort.

Event comments:

I really enjoyed this ride... Expensive though ($120) and the first beer should be free...

There must be a good story behind the crash in the last 5 miles - TELL, TELL

You were surprised about the $ for beer?  I thought the $120 included the ride back to Evergreen! LOL   Fortunately I found space in the pickup truck of a friend of a friend and saved the bus $!  (I think it was $75).

How long were you out there?  Great job to have finished - especially bloody!!

Ok, here is the scoop... I rode with my wife (actually, I waited at each food stop for her), it started to get kind of late so after we rode down Vail Pass we encountered a lot of head wind - Lilia is very new to cycling and she is not completely comfortable drafting... I was getting a little cranky and I suggested joining in a line-up of about 15 riders. Once we joined the line-up the miles started to zip on by. Anyway, just after West Vail there is a tunnel - inside the tunnel the guy infront of me was playing with his computer and swerved into the side gutter then back in front of me where he fell. I could not stop and hit him - flying on past him and landing on a rock... OUCH! anyway, the last miles were very painful and it was hard to pedal. I just thought about the beer at the finish and I definitely wanted to beat the rain (which we did). Anyway, I didn't have any cash. On a positive note, my friend drove our car to Avon and it was there waiting. Lilia drove home. I slept. On Monday I could barely walk to Einstein's bagel shop down the street... By the weekend we were traversing Crestone Peak and Needle. I'm such a tough guy... But Lilia (devotchkatata on BT) is much tougher!!!
