Hey All...

Slowly increasing my bike (AKA: Time In The Saddle!! and wondering what recommendations you have for AEROBARS...

Also looking at a rear mount 2-bottle cage and "Bento Box"... but figure they aren't as critical in terms of comfort & fit

Welcome any thoughts!! Happy Easter..

The Profile Design T2 bars are great. Bought them over a year ago and have no complaints. They've got an small S-bend on them that allows your wrists to stay in a neutral position and makes them really comfortable while in the aero position.

Tri-zone has them on sale for $84 in April.

Honestly, you should go to your local bike shop and try out a few. Bring your bike and they'll set it up on the trainer and you can try out different ones and see what fits/feels best. Aerobars are all very different and what works for one, may not work for someone else.

Thanks guys

Definitely plan to try out a few of the bars.. didn't really think about the fact they might set the bike up with the various bars on-site for a demo/spin ride.. great idea.

I know at least one of my LBS's will me to return the bars within a reasonable amount of time.. if I find i don't like them after a couple of rides..

I just bought a Profile Design seat mount bottle cage (2) and tested it out on the (WINDY) Oliver bike course yesterday.  Bottles fit tight enough to stay put, seems to have lots of positions and has a place to hold CO2 canisters if you use them. I haven't tried any other so can't compare but I do see people losing bottles when they hit bumps so it seems important that they are snug enough.

Also - I just bought a Specialized bento box and I'm liking it better than my old one.  It has firmer sides and the top is held in place with an elastic instead of velcro so it's easier to open/close. I kind of wish it opened fully instead of half way though but it's been working well for me over the past few weeks. The only downside to the firmer sides is that when I put my foot down when I stop, I tend to hit the bento box with my crotch so I had to be a bit careful at first. Surprised I guess I did that with my old one too but since it was soft sided, I didn't notice it.  Anyway, I still like it way better than my old one.  I can post a picture if you want.

I found the following "bento" style bag from MEC works great and its much cheaper than a brand name bag.  $13.

I totally agree with testing out some aero bars.  I have the fuel belt bento box that zips up instead of using velcro with I love as it is completely waterproof but is still easy to access everything inside.  Also it fits the shot bloc packages perfectly!  If you end up getting aero bars I invested in an aero bottle go in in between the bars.  I really like if for racing with as you don't have to get out of aero to grab a drink and having the bottle right in front of you kind of is a reminder to drink/fuel up.
