Update on my Claire

We had Claire's CT Scan this week. The good news is that her head CT was normal and she does NOT have a misplaced heart vessel compressing her right bronchus. That means no surgery. PHEW!

The bad news was that she has congenital cysts in her lungs.  This puts her at higher risk for spontaneous pneumothorax and it has a high malignancy potential.  It may also be a form of Congenital Lobar Emphysema.  At this point, we have lots more questions for the doc and are awaiting a return phone call. She will most likely be managed with steroids, x-rays, and extreme caution with illness.  Her airway and bronchus are still very floppy and collapse closed easily, which will remain a cause for concern...pneumonia is a big risk.

So, good news, but not great news.  Thanks to all who sent kind thoughts my way earlier.  If we learn anything new, I'll let you know.
