Went to the Pigman Triathlon site near Cedar Rapids, IA to do a workout with CLLinIA and our great support team (Andy, Janell and the very cool Malcom and Jenny). Carrie did the entire bike and run route - (she was out of T1 before I got my shoes on) and then did the 3.1 mi. run course. Pampering my squinchy back and knee, I did just half the bike and half the run. And... I didn't finish all that much ahead of her.  I learned a new word today...  girled! As in, "I think I was pretty well girled today  BUT... it was a great day in Iowa and it was fun. Stayed to do some swimming in my wetsuit. First time I could actually call it swiming in this little lake.

Malvey, just do like I do. Come up with some sort of excuse, any excuse. As in "Well she was younger than me" or "I was only doing it as a training run."

Judging from the flames on your jersey, I guess you could say you were "grilled" as well.

Hey - Max - thanks. Of course! See that band on my right arm. I'm trying to rehab a medial epidondylitis (golfer's elbow) very painful. Man... if I didn't have that dang elbow thing... who knows?  (Come to think of it - I do look a bit grilled ay?)

Hey Malvey, nice pictures - thanks! I might've pushed it a little harder yesterday than I intended. When I got home I could not stop eating. Seriously. It was 8 pm and I was still saying, "Ya know, I think what I need now is a nice milkshake." When I did my first tri I'd been vegetarian for nearly 10 years, and afterward I went to a steakhouse and asked for the biggiest, bloodiest piece of meat they could haul out. So much for being a delicate flower. A woman needs FUEL! I hope you're feeling okay. It was great fun to have someone to run the course with - thanks for coming over and greetings to the family.

Leaving the transition area you go down a hill to the bridge across the dam, and there's a little more up and down leaving the park. It's dead flat into Palo and back for the majority of the ride, nice and fast. You do hit that hill coming up to the transition right at the end of both the bike and the run, which is bad timing, but overall it's not bad.

It' a great course - Carrie - don't know if you did the piece just past the turn in to the park. There's about a 2 mile run past the park (downhill) then uphill again to get back into the park. So there are two hills that are not all that bad. Matt - are you coming out to Pigman Sprint?
