Subject: Novice or AG Wave I'll be registering for my next sprint sometime soon - the actual event is at the end of September. I'm debating whether to sign up as a novice again (it's only my second race ) or go with AG (35-39 ). This time I'll be swimming freestyle (gosh darn it! ) as opposed to breaststroke, so I'm not too worried about kicking others as much. On the flip side, this freestyle business is still new and who knows if I'll get panicky and revert to breaststroke.
Is there any benefit to starting in either group? The Novice will probably be a smaller wave; however, this is already a small race, so I'd be surprised if there is more than 80 AG women (I've been stalking the prior years' race results ).
Despite the fact that I'd love to place, I don't think that's something I need to consider. Unless, of course, I manage to shave a good 40-45 minutes off my time. That might be a tad too optimistic for 12 weeks of training |
