Pro 15655 | Subject: My, we sure screwed up the earth..........LOL Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older lady that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags are not good for the environment. The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations." The older lady said that she was right -- our generation didn't have the "green thing" in its day. The older lady went on to explain: Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our school books. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags. But, too bad we didn't do the "green thing" back then. But she was right. We didn't have the "green thing" in our day. Back then we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day. But she's right; we didn't have the "green thing" back then. We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the "green thing" back then. Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family's $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the"green thing." We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint. But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then? Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart mouthed young person. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to tick us off... Especially from a tattooed, multiple pierced smartass who can't make change without the cash register telling them how much.
HAHAHAHA!!! I love my people!! |

To be the devils advocate...”and the young girl said, yeah, your generation gave us all the modern conveniences that are destroying the planet”. :-) The best idea I have heard from the climate alarmists is to plant trees! I love it. Won’t do a danm thing to change the climate but would beautify the environment and give them something to do to make them feel better about themselves without effecting my life like banning straws. |

Looks like Trump has been reading my posts again! “ To protect the environment, days ago I announced the United States will join the One Trillion Trees Initiative, an ambitious effort to bring together governments … to plant new trees in America and around the world,” Trump said. |

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: My, we sure screwed up the earth..........LOL I think it's a great idea as well......of course, it will all go to hell when some 12 year old starts ranting about how it won't help anything and adults are ruining his/her life. Then all the adults in the room bow their heads and scurry off, scolded, instead of sending the kid to his/her room without supper or telling the kid to go outside and bring back a switch to be used on their arse. In fairness to that kid......I always thought my grandma should go get her own damn switch to whip me with. LOL |

Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: My, we sure screwed up the earth..........LOL 1,000,000,000,000 / 7,000,000,000 = 142 trees over 10 years for every man, woman and child on the planet. Or 14 trees per year per person. Pretty ambitious goal. I have about 1,000 trees on my property. But could easily find rooms for 142 more. Not sure how you do that in NYC or Mexico City or Beijing, Tokyo.... |

Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: My, we sure screwed up the earth..........LOL Indians used to deal with thirst by putting a smooth flat stone under their tongue. Looking for the perfect stone took their mind off of their thirst and then Stone would cause them to salivate giving the feeling that they have a little drink. Planting trees would occupy the climate alarmists’ minds and provide the feeling they are dealing with the problem. |
