OK. Here is the deal. I love my 'Tennis' and 'Basketball' shoes. I like the leather. I like the thick rubber. I like the way they look on my feet. Several months ago I bought a pair of New Balance running/jogging shoes on sale and was amazed at how light and comfortable they were.

What is everyone's preference for a running/jogging shoe? A running/biking shoe?

DEpends on how big you are. If you are "bigger >180lbs", then see the thread on Clydesdale shoes.

I don't know how I missed that thread. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. At 5'11" 205lbs, I never would have considered myself a "Clydesdale" though. There should be a "Compact" or "Sturdy" division? Better yet..."ATLAS"!!!

I am < 200lbs, but also wear the Brooks Beast (a Clydesdale recommendation) shoe for extra support and cushoining. The shoe store recommended for over 180lbs.

I got a pair of Adidas something er others which are incredibly light. But, the sole is too narrow, which at some point is going to cause (or allow for) some serious pronation (i.e. to much weight on the inside of the sole.

I'm also a ~200 pounder, so i should have went with something with more of a "cross training" sole.

What can I say, I was impressed with the look of the adidas shoe and how light it was.

I plan on getting something new here in another month or so. Maybe I'll look into the ohhh ... uhhh .... I dunno .... the Brooks Beast, perhaps. *wink*

I know that I mentioned a new shoe that was by another manufacture that was comparable to the Brooks Beast and said I would let everyone know what it was. It is a shoe made by Sacony(sp?) that is a motion control stability shoe but is more flexible than the Beast. I spoke to a rep with Sacony this evening and the only thing that concerns me is that it is designed for flat footed heavyweight runners. He said that they were releasing another shoe and he would try to get me some info on them.

Sorry I don't remember the model of the shoe!

I've had decent luck with Asics running shoes. I bought my second pair of these, but this time got a pair with the gel in them. Not too impressed with them. They fit okay, but the gel that is under the ball of my foot is still kind of stiff and makes my feet a little uncomfortable after about 30 - 35 minutes. I don't know if they will soften up or not. I'm also in that clydesdale range. For now :-)

Shoe model is the GRID and it is made by Sacouny. I also found out that the Beast is made the same way, for flat feet, so I don't have an issue with that anymore.
