um yes they do and lots of buoyancy...I believe the primary purposes of a wetsuit is to keep you warm.

Im not sure i understand your question but i'll try to answer it.

If you are talking about wetsuits, yes they do keep you warm and buoyant.

If you are asking about tri-suits then answer is no. Its very thin fabric and water can go through it.

70 degree temperature is not cold and definitely doable without a wetsuit.

No.

Wetsuits provide warmth because of the air bubbles in the neopreme (or whatever material they may be made from) provides an insulating value.

There are no air bubbles in tri suits so no insulating value.

I have a tri suit and have swam in it and although you have more movement (compared to my wet suit with sleeves) you are not as boyant nor as warm.  For warmer races you can just use a trisuit but having swam with both I vote for the wetsuit.
