Anyone know anything about Lake Carolyn? We are doing the Texas Tough swim event there this weekend and I'm curious how deep the lake is? Is it clean?

Planning on walking the swim instead? Ha.

Not real deep. You can touch in a lot places near the edge and regularly feel the grass and such if it's growing a lot this year.

Not really a lake. More like a big canal water-runoff thing. Clean? Are any lakes in DFW clean? Nope. Not really. Not necessarily any worse than anything else around, but no better either.

Haha well maybe I'll wear my water shoes lol I'm new to DFW from Seattle, so don't really know much about the lakes here. I'm seriously freaked out about snakes being there with me though!

I wouldn't worry too much about snakes. I've never seen one in all my races. Especially once a lot of people get in the water and start splashing around, I'm pretty sure it would scare off any snakes that may be in the area.

The lakes here have no visibility so go with the "if I can't see it, it doesn't exist" approach and you'll be fine.

Haha good advice. Lakes in Washington were pretty clear - so you could see lots of fish and lake grass. Kinda trippy lol but there weren't any snakes lol

The lake (more like a big pond) is really gross! I hope they have the fountain going for you so at least the water is not stagnant.

Oh yeah, you won't be seeing anything in our "lakes". Especially not "Lake" Carolyn. Yeah, it's a man made canal. I think they thought it would be the next River Walk (Like in San Antonio), but it never panned out.

Just wanted to fill you guys in on how the swim went. It was AWESOME!!! I had a fabulous time, and NO SNAKES!!! I actually ended up doing two legs of the relay because our 3rd swimmer had to be pulled from the water after about a minute into the lake due to her hyperventilating. I think I may be over my fear of seeing a snake in the lakes here, so now have committed to the Disco triathlon in July!
