I am new to the sport and beginning training, I am starting off really slow at running and do not have a good road bike yet but I am excited to get started and see what I can do. If anyone has any tips or if there are any beginner beginner groups let me know. I am always down by deer creek as my parents live right off of 207 about 2 mi from deer creek.

Hi Mark, im a newbie myself....I do quite a bit of swimming and biking at deercreek. I've seen a few people there but don't know of any groups in area other than COTT in columbus.

Hey Mett,  I'm new to this too.  I did the swim event as part of a relay team at the Wendy's tri.  I've been looking for a beginners group as well.  I may not be able to complete all three events, but the swimming or cycling events are what I enjoy.

I have been trying to work on the running as I know that will be the hardest part for me. I have always enjoyed swimming although I may not be doing it right but I am reading up on that now. I know how to run it has just been a while. I am dropping weight pretty fast so I assume it will only get easier.

I never could get the hang of running.  I enjoy swimming and cycling, though the bike hasn't seen the light of day in years.  I've been dropping the pounds as well.  If your interested in some swim classes geared toward tri swimming, I go to a place out in Hilliard.  Only $8 for drop in rate.  Class is an hour long.  Let me know I can give you more info.  It's helped my swim technique.

What time is the class in hilliard? Also congrats on dropping weight I know it has been tough for me. I am a large framed guy at 6'5" but I got up to 290 and I have got down to 268 now. The running is getting easier but this big makes it a little harder on my knees and shins then when I was a skinny guy lol

There are a couple of different days and times.  I go on Sunday's at 4pm and on Tuesday's at 7pm.  Class lasts for an hour.  It's at Aquatic Adventures on Cemetary road at I-270.  I believe the class on Thursday's is at 6am.

Yes it's structured.  Last night was 200 yard warmup.  Four 50 yard sprints.  a couple of slow stroke down and sprint back.  They don't do the same thing everytime which keeps it interesting.  The instructors also watch your technique and give you help to improve.  I'll be there on Sunday.  Hope to see you there.
