I am just so excited about how my 2nd tri went!!!  I have always been a non-athlete, other than a couple of years of swim team in Jr. high.   Had never even run a mile...always "sick" on the mile run days in schoolEmbarassed.  So, did my first tri a few weeks ago and just stayed with my training partner at her pace...which made for a nice, easy, relaxed first race.  Finished 1565 out of 1704, 2hr 10min.  I was THRILLED to have finished.  But now I was anxious to see how I might do at my pace.

So this past weekend, I hoped to finish in 1:50 or less.  Finished in 1:38!  AND finished 266/2544 in the swim and second in my wave!!!  It was downhill from there with a 980/2544 in the bike and a 1408/2544 in the run, but overall I finished 913.

I know it doesn't sound overly impressive, but I couldn't be prouder.  And I have all you BTers to thank for all of your tips, answers and confidence boosts these last several months!  I NEVER thought I could do this...and I couldn't have without you all.

So, again.....THANK YOU!!!!

Sincerely,
Valerie

Anytime you set a previously undoable goal, work diligently toward it, and achieve it is something that is impressive and you should be proud of. Being able to do that puts you well ahead of the game. Congrats, and set a new goal for yourself Wink

Congratulations!

In the future, don't discount your accomplishments with statements about them being insignificant or little, or not very good.  You got out there. You raced.  You finished.  Be very proud

Your story sounds much like mine... only I would miss PE on swim days as well as run days... okay, I pretty much skipped ALL of PE Embarassed in school... I was always the last one picked for teams, etc... Lifelong couch potato turned triathlete Laughing

That's quite an improvement in time in just a few weeks...  I'm hoping to go sub-2 for my first one... I'm very familiar with the BOP... wtg making it to the MOP!!!
