Member  47  Warren, MI |  Subject: OWSHello all, I was wondering if anyone has planned any open water practice swims coming up soon. My first tri is August 16th, and although I am a strong pool swimmer, I do not have experience in the lake. I was at Stoney Creek today and did a little swimming, but I do not feel it was too good of practice. If anyone knows of a place, please give me some ideas. Or if I can meet up with anyone planning on doing some swimming, I would be more than thankful to do that too. Thanks, Corrie |

Could you let me know street names, an address, or something like that? I would appreciate it. It would be nice to meet you too. I have been talking to people on this site for a few months, but never met anyone in "real life"! |

Ok - Island Lake State Park (or Island Lake Recreational Area) is near Kennsington metropark in Brighton, MI (area). It is located off of the Kent Lake road exit (if coming from the east side) or Kennsington Road (if coming from the west side) off of I-96.
If you do a mapquest for it you should be able to find it. Let me know if you need more defined directions!
