This is probably an embarrassingly dumb question, but....

I just picked up my packet for tomorrows race, and there is no number included in it for my bike. Should there be? Or will I get it tomorrow morning?

Thanks.

I did a duathlon earlier this year and they did not have numbers for the bike this year.  Instead they had 2 wrist bracelets things, one that went on your wrist, and the other on the bike somewhere.  The only number we had were the ones we wore for the run portion.

Ask about it in the morning when you get your chip.  Most races (not all) use bike numbers.  Have a great race tomorrow!

Looking over the race webite it reads:  "The bike frame number must adhere to the side tube of the bike and must be clearly visible at all times."  So there should be one and I would think it should be in the packet.

Looks like you have a little bit of time to go back to ppu this afternoon or go by ppu at the  Fire Dept tomorrow to verify.   They will fix it so don't worry about it.

btw 40 bucks for a race!  very cool.

HAVE FUN!!!

Thanks for responses. I emailed the race coordinator and got a response that they are not using numbers on the bikes this year. Just going by body markings and chips.

$40 for the registration is WAY cool- probably so low because it's not a sanctioned course. And I'm thinking no one in their right mind would pay $75 if they knew the 4.5 mile run is almost all uphill

Bike numbers are important for big races where they really try to manage transition and have race marshalls.  Otherwise, they don't serve much purpose.  More races are requiring you to wear your race number on yourself when you ride in lieu of numbers on the bike.

How are the officials going to guarantee that you leave with the bike you came with, unless there is some kind of ID matching you with your bike?

I guess you have to HOPE someone doesn't sign up for 40$ and ride off with your bike.

Steelhead was the first race I've ever done that had numbers for the bike and helmet.  Every race I've done up until then had only had body markings and a bib.
