Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just got back from a day at Oshkosh for the big fly-in and air show. It's gotten really big, but is still a great experience. I took my son up there and met up with my husband who'd been there all week volunteering, Then we ventured off to see Spaceship One and the Global Flyer. I'm so glad we did it. Josh may not appreciate it now at 11 months old, but years from now we can say "here's the first personal spacecraft ever built! Spent the rest of the day enjoying the thousands of airplanes and seeing friends, when the best part was literally almost walking into HARRISON FORD who was signing an autograph for someone. He's a huge airplane freak and the EAA's Young Eagles chairman (another story), anyway he was just walking around with Calista and one of his kids like all the other airplane freaks and geeks. I just left him alone and it seemed most people were trying to do the same thing which was so cool. OK, I got a little goofy, I admit it. Felt like a teenager again. ![]() The 3 of us watched the air show and Josh and I left for home. A long day, but oh so rewarding! Just wanted to share my little story with all of you. Thanks for listening. Edited by bmax 2005-07-28 9:43 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I used to work in the tower up in Jackson Hole. He flew all of the time and I got to speak with him over the radio quite a few times. Pilot used to key up on the radio and say things like, "Indiana Jones". It was pretty cool I guess. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() That is so cool. Nice of you to leave him alone. I try to leave celebs alone when I see them but some I won't because I have wanted to shake their hands or meet them for so long. Celebs I have asked for autographs: Gregory Hines (at the stage door after Jelly's Last Jam), Savion Glover Shaken hands with: William B. Davis, Lewis Black, Tommy Tiernan, John Pinette, Dom Herrera, Maryellen Hooper, Neil Patrick Harris & Anne Heche (they were in a play together and camem out the stage door at the same time), Caroline Picard, Fred Willard, Caroline Rhea (had dinner with Caroline too that was fun she is an amazing hostess). Celebs I have ignored on purpose to be polite: Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Billy Joel, Karl Lagerfeld (this was hard because I really love his work), |

Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It was very difficult not to approach him, but it's gotta be tough being a celebrity and constantly being bugged by fans or people just out to make a buck on his signature. Just wanted to respect his space. Man Wookie, you've seen quite a few celebs! Good for you respecting their space. Edited by bmax 2005-07-31 11:55 PM |

I guess I just got back from a long trip to Alpha Centauri....I don't know who any of these people are. ![]() I do have Mel Gibson's autograph and Dorothy Hamill's as well. Gregory Hines: The preeminent tap dancer of the last half of the 20th century. With his brother Morris he revived the style for national auidences on a television show called StarSearch then they went their separate ways. Hines starred in many movies but most notably in Tap which featured some of the greatest tap talents of the 20th century including the great Sammy Davis Jr. Savion Glover: Kids know who he is because he is a regular on Sesame Street. Savion played the young Jelly Roll Morton in the broadway hit Jelly's Last Jam and is considered by many dance fans to be the successor to Gregory Hines. William B. Davis: A prominent Canadian actor best known to American audiences for playing the role of "Cigarette Smoking Man" aka "Cancer man" in the television show The X-Files Lewis Black: Stand-up comedian and author Lewis Black is considered by many (including myself) to be one of the best comics working you can have a look at some of his lines here: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Lewis_Blackor visit my website to read reviews of his work. Neil Patrick Harris: A American actor probably best known by people in the late 30's and early 40's for his roles in Doogie Howser MD and Starship Troopers. He has also done a number of HBO movies and has appeared on Broadway. Tommy Tiernan, John Pinette, Dom Herrera, Maryellen Hooper, Caroline Picard, Caroline Rhea are all stand-up comedians and uless you enjoy stand-up enough to remember the names of comedians it isn't likely you have heard of them. Caroline Rhea might be the exception in this group she was Aunt Hilda on Sabrina The Teenage Witch, has appeared on Hollywood Squares has appeared in numerous movies and hosted the television show The Biggest Loser. Most people don't have an appreciation for stand-up comedy beyond watching Leno or Letterman so it isn't surprising that people like Pinette, Tiernan and Black are virtually unknown to the general public. |
