I started using the goggles a few days ago and suddenly look 5 years older.

Does anyone else have this problem?

More importantly does anyone have a solution?

My goggles do leave makes under and around my eyes, but they usually go away the next day. So I guess my problem is not as serious as yours. Perhaps your goggles are too tight. My coach suggested that I get Aqua Sphere goggles because they are more suited for longer distance swim.

So now you look 29???

Could be a little bit of bruising from being too tight. If appearances are important, switch to a swimming mask. These are low-profile masks. You might need to go to a specialty swimming/scuba store.

I just tell people that I got into a bar fight.

Probably they are too tight, like the others suggested.

I have that same issue, I think. I normally get lines around my eyes, which take about an hour or two to go away. However, the other day my friend emailed me some pics from a night out and I realized that I had circles around my eyes that weren't quite the same color as the rest of my face. No one has ever commented on it nor have I ever noticed it in the mirror, but it did kind of freak me out when I saw the pics. I'm not sure if it's related or not.

I don't really get any bruising, just massive lines. But I get lines very easily - no matter what's touching what part of my body. I do wear my goggles a little on the tight side, though, because I wear contacts and I have this fear of a flood rushing into my goggles and wiping the contacts out of my eye...or ruining them or giving me an infection.

Let me know if you find a solution!

When I first went back to swimming after not being in the pool for years, I got a pair of suction goggles at my local running store. The guy fit them on my face by seeing if they would "stick" (with suction) on their own.

I am 48 with fair, delicate skin and after 30 minutes in the pool with those things on I looked like a bug-eyed freak! OMG, I had to go to work -- the marks were there nearly all day.

After doing some research, I wound up with a pair of Barracuda positive pressure googles.

Specifically, I bought the B-300 model.

Bug-eyed problem soloved and (for me) they don't leak.

They're hitting right where yours were. Please do let me know how the big ones do for you.
