I don't think I've seen/heard of a fall from"unforgettable, lifetime high" to "devestating, gut wrenching low" since I read the story of the hunter who bagged his first moose and then got mauled by a bear while field dressing it.

At least he bounced/slid across the finish line... it would have sucked even worse if he hadn't won because of the wipe out.

What's the big deal? I do that EVERY race slipping on TP pre-race coming out of the porta-potties. It's a pre-race tradition. Don't ask what logo I slipped on.

i haven't done that at the finish - but i sure did at the start! knee is still healing in fact. it was a du sponsored by wear dated carpet. they had this HUGE carpet at the start/finish. just after the gun went off, someone caught their foot on the edge of the carpet, which was not duct taped down, and flipped up the edge. at least a dozen of us tripped on the carpet and then each other. within seconds of starting the race - i was bleeding. nice. still managed to finish with a du pr.
