Subject: Anyone else participate in a Genesis Adventure event

Anyone else do any events sponsored by "Genesis Adventures?"

I did a Crazy Legz race last year put on by them and was thoroughly under-impressed with the total management.  It was an 85 mile team run, with about 45 miles being trail runs.  Last count I heard, there were something like double digit numbers of "search and rescue" calls for lost runners because no one could find the course.  Eventually, a handful of running segments ended up being canceled and our team (as well as many others) didn't even manage to finish before the cut-off time b/c of lost runners.

The kicker was the $500 (per team) entrance fee.

I just got an email from these guys for their 2008 season and I see a couple of events literally a couple of minutes from my house.  (Harrimann State Park / Bear Mtn.)  I'm on the fence about registering - the main component for NOT is my experience with the management of this previous event.

Curious if and what experiences others might have had with Genesis Adventures.

(they also run the Westchester Marathon as well as a bunch of other running races, triathlons, and adventure races)

I did the Half IM race listed here last year:

In general it was pretty well done however I did hear they ran out of water or gatorade towards the end. I think they also ran out of cups. It may have been that it was just so stinking hot and the demand was more than anticipated, otherwise it wasn't bad. I may not do it again even though it's only about 10 miles from my house because of other races I want to do but otherwise I would do it again.

You might try searching the race database for your particular race and see what others felt.
